In 1995, Philippine label BMG Records Philippines released Biyaheng Ilalim (Traveling Underground), a compilation of ten alternative rock tracks recorded by ten unsigned bands. The album holds together well and isn't a mishmash of unrelated songs. The album was released at a time when a rock renaissance was underway in the Philippines. Rock isn't well known in the Philippines, but several rock bands had begun selling albums and getting radio airplay.

The opening song "Wala Ka Naman N'yan" (You Don't Have That) starts on hard-edged guitars that play a fast, almost punkish rhythm. The opening melody is gritty and the chorus has substance. "Galit Sa Mundo," recorded by Sphinx, contains rough-edged chords and searing electric guitar and moves on a medium-paced rhythm. The singing works off a one-note variation. Sphinx would later record a self-titled album for JML Records in 1996. The punkish "Miserable," performed by Conviction, grooves on melodic guitar that floats above fast, rough-edged guitar chords. "Halimaw" (Monster), performed by Tulisan, works off a jittery rhythm that contains interesting empty "spaces," while "Nakakulong Sa Panaginip" (Prisoner of the Dream), performed by Flabbergast, opens on funky guitar and then segues into a heavy metal, Black Sabbath-type song.

"Balbon" (Hairy), recorded by Pig Noise, contains gritty guitar. Pig Noise would later record an album in 1996 for JML Records. "Samaral" (no translation), recorded by Drone, has one of the album's most interesting arrangements and starts on an industrial metal ambience and segues to a slow, floating sequence. Biyaheng Ilalim is a cohesive, well-made album. ~ David Gonzales, All Music Guide
